The Odyssey rug in the Chesapeake Fantasy series, completed in December 2022, bears the name of our boat and after it returns from this show will be placed in the entry way to the salon onboard. This was my first attempt at hooking lettering and matches the font on the transom. It is hooked on linen and features a cotton binding on the back (for additional protection) since it will be in a higher traffic area than the other rugs. It is hooked primarily using handspun yarns with a little bit of sparkly ribbons and a few commercial single ply bulky yarns. I’m hoping to use this rug to learn how the various yarn types/ plies / twists hold up with more use. The design mirrors some of the motifs from the other hooked rugs in the Chesapeake Fantasy series.
