Karen Garbee: Hansel and Gretel

While taking Deana David's online "Design like a Fairy Tale" class, I created a sketch of what a scene out of the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale might look like. The final piece is the cleaned up version of the original sketch.

The only real challenge was figuring out how to transition the light and happy scene that the witch in the story wanted to portray in order to lure in the children and the actual scary aspect of what might happen when you are lured by a stranger with ill intent. Hence the transition from the light foreground to the dark background. It was also difficult to figure out how to attach the Ric Rac around the outside without compromising the piece.
